Your tinder profile could be creating the very wrong impression

Look I'm not saying that I know how to write the perfect dating profile and if I did I probably wouldn't tell you anyway as where would the fun in that be? And if I'm being completely honest the most important thing - in my opinion - is to provide an honest reflection of you as a person. And if you're not perfect (if you were then what are you doing on a dating site?) then you're profile probably shouldn't be either.

I have been single for 5 years. Mostly by choice after the end of two back to back long term relationships. I have scrolled through probably thousands of dating profiles in that time. I have swiped right occasionally. But mostly not.

Mostly just exasperated by the bad, the very bad and the Oh My god please STOP! dating profiles.

So here's my Top 5 list of dating profile boo boo's for you to avoid. And before you say it I know guys are equally bad, if not worse (topless tiger pics, etc) but I can't fix them. And mostly I don't see them. So I guess I'm lucky in that regard.

Anyway here goes. In no particular order....

1. Pictures with hot guys

This not only makes u look needy but also makes u look like you’re not over someone

2. Snapchat filters

I mean seriously ...wtf... ?? For some reason guys be obsessed with sending dick pics apparently, which I totally will never ever understand (some things should be left to the imagination), but girls what is your obsession with making yourself look like a rodent in soft focus? It just makes me immediately think that you’re ugly in real life.

3. Pics of you and your kids.

No one wants to feel straight away that they are competing. Yes you have kids and whilst you’re on the subject please don’t say that they are your world.... of course they are ... they’re your kids.. I would probably respect a profile that said something along the lines I’ve got kids and some day’s I don’t hate them

4. Pictures of you skiing

Well done you’re active ... no need to ram it down anyone’s throat. Save it for a gap in conversation. There will probably be one.

5. Pictures of you in a bikini or with very little on

There are ways of showing off your body without being a harlot. Again leave something to the imagination... Failure to adhere to this will guarantee a dick pic (if that’s what u want?)

Now I'm not saying this is a definitive list. It isn't and I guess I'll come back to it another day when I feel the need to share but as you frantically go about deleting pics and realise that you're not left with anything then consider the following as replacements;

• Au Naturel; A pic with no or very little make up ... it shows confidence and a willingness to be open

• Smiling pics. Nothing worse than saying you’re a fun loving person and then taking 5 pics of you looking serious. So what if you don’t like your smile. Doesn’t mean that’s what’s your potential suitor will think

Anyway. Go and sort your pics as we know most guys don't even get to the bio.

But follow these simple rules and I can guarantee you will get some interest

Now you just need an intriguing and interesting bio ..................
